We all go through times of discouragement, and certainly, as a church planter your husband has some difficult days. What are some practical ways you provide encouragement and support to him when he’s going through a difficult time?

For me personally I feel I need to remind my husband of the call God has put on his life in times when he feels discouraged or like things are just not coming together. To remind him of the finger prints of God we have seen along the road coming to this place, at this time, to plant this church. Reaffirming in him what his spiritual gifts are.
Another thing I do is pray for him specifically when I know he is gong to be talking to people who tend to have a negative tone, think things should be moving along faster than they are. Sometimes it is just people who think we are just plain silly for leaving the “known” for the “unknown”.
I pray for the protection of his mind, heart and spirit when I know he is coming in contact with people who unintentionally can cause him discouragement.

I agree with the comment above. I believe prayer is so important to your husband as a leader. I also try to stop everything I’m doing just to give him my undivided attention. I let him talk, I ask him questions to talk more, to just “get it all out”. It helps after he has “unloaded” for lack of a better term. And then I pray like crazy!
